Big business is extending a helping hand to little Rappahannock ' County and the School Board is delighted.
Superintendent Robert Estabrook announced “a delightful surprise” at last Wednesday’s board meeting - an offer by Potomac Edison power company “to pump some money” into the school division’s computer programs.
Mr. Estabrook reported that he’d met the previous week with 1 several Potomac Edison representatives. “They asked very detailed, probing questions about the use of computers in our schools,” he told the board members. “Finally it came out... that industry is being pushed by the federal government to reach out and join hands with public education, and Potomac Edison is taking this very seriously.” Accordingly, the power company is sending a computer expert to review the use of computers at both county schools, both in offices and classrooms, he said, adding that the review comes with no obligations to accept any recommendations.
