“Help! How to know if you’re making money,” is the title of the Artists’ Forum Presentation scheduled for Friday, October 24 at Blackwater Homestead. At this forum, the fourth in the series presented by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community, participants will hear Nol Putnam and Claudia McCue discuss some of the practical problems faced by those trying to make a living as artists, and propose some techniques that have worked for them.
Putnam and McCue are artistsblacksmiths, both doing commission work at their own forges. Since entering into partnership four years ago, they’ve devised both from their own experience and from the advice of friends, some methods of cost accounting that address the needs of small businesses and, in particular, artists trying to make a living at their art or craft.
