Miss Cynthia Ann Leake and Paul Webster Curtis were united in marriage on September 27 at Lael Baptist Church, in Lignum, Virginia. Reverend Peyton W. Wiltshire performed the double ring ceremony at 11 o’clock in the morning. Mrs. Thelma Scroggons played the wedding music.
Cindy is the daughter of Ms. Virgie E. Atkins of Culpeper and the kite Charles W. Leake of Sperryville. Paul is the son of Mrs. Cynthia C. Storck of Fredericksburg and the late John Webster Curtis of Lignum.
The bride wore a formal Victorian-styled gown of silky taffeta and delicate lace. The high neck line was of sheer illusion and the yoke was accented by seed pearls and sequins. The V of sheer illusion was trimmed with ruffles and enhanced by a fitted bodice with a basque waistline that was trimmed with a silk bow in the back. The tapered illusion sleeves were highlighted with juliet-style satin poufs. The skirt was full with ruffled edges and accented with appliques, seed pearls and sequins; ending in a sweep train with more ruffles. Her headpiece was also accented with seed pearls and sequins with a nylon net fingertip veil and blusher. The bride carried an arm bouquet of long stem white roses, baby’s breath, and ferns with white satin streamers.
Mrs. Jane Dodson, of Culpeper, was matron of honor, and Mrs. Margaret Hutcheson, of Culpeper was bridesmaid. They wore matching formal gowns of teal green satin with poufed sleeves, and a wide
