10K, fun run
in Winchester
On Saturday, November 8, Winchester Kiwanis Club will hold a 10 K road race and one mile run fun. These races are held each spring and fail in conjunction with the Kiwanis’ major fundraiser - Pancake Day. Net proceeds from the races will be contributed to the Chamber of Commerce visitor center project.
The fun run is conducted on a loop through the Winchester Recreation Park and will start at 10:30 a.m. The 10 K road race begins at 11 a.m. The start/finish line is next to the Kiwanis Shelter a few hundred yards east of the War Memorial Building and those delicious pancakes.
The route is out and back through park and city streets over slightly hilly terrain. Splits and aid stations are provided. Race results are computerized and the finish line crew is experienced and well trained.
At the 1 p.m. awards ceremony, plaques will be presented to top finishers in each age division. All 10 K runners will receive one free pancake dinner ticket and race memorabilia. Fun runners will receive race souvenirs.
Cost of the fun run is $1. Pre-registration for the 10 K is $7. Pancake Day dinner tickets are $2.50 in advance, or $3 at the door. Good quality t-shirts will be on sale for $6.50 each.
