Mr. Timmons Was struck in the right side of the head and neck by a 12-gauge shotgun blast as he stood on the front porch of his home on Rt. 231, 2.2 miles north of the Madison County line. The shooting occurred about 10 p.m. Saturday, June 7. He was pronounced dead at Culpeper Memorial Hospital a short time later.
A state-wide bulletin naming Brown as the suspect sought for questioning in the shooting was broadcast within hours. He eluded an extensive manhunt covering southern Rappahannock and Madison counties during the weekend but turned himself in to Lt. W. R. Jenkins of the Madison County Sheriffs Department late Monday morning, June 9.
Brown has been in custody in Page County, and more recently in Rappahannock, since his arrest. Mr. Luke said that he will remain in custody until his sentencing.
