The new monitoring equipment for the Progressive Care Unit allows beds outside the ICU/CCU to be monitored by nursing personnel in the Intensive Care Unit. When recovering patients leave the ICU/CCU, they can be moved into a progressive care bed with capability of being monitored during their stay
in this unit. The telemetry function allows the patient to be monitored during movement for any abnormal heart rate events and is able to record this vital information for the physician and nursing personnel to review.
The evaluation leading to the purchase of the equipment was accomplished by members of the Nursing Department as well as physicians on the Medical Staff ol the hospital. After a thorough review of the equipment available, a final decision was made and the equipment was purchased for installation in order to ensure the highest quality of care is rendered to patients who utilize the Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit of Warren Memorial Hospital.
