The many mixed media pieces throughout the show by Jeanne Drevas reflect this artist’s multi-faceted talent. Some of her recent vessels seem to be a study of one particular form. Other pieces, some of which are collaborations, are uniquely special. Ms. Drevas’ black vessel with the brightly colored handmade paper by Nina Moore is a delight. And her large, framed “Soundings” over the mantle in the front room seems intensely personal.
In a group exhibition that was arranged largely with care and balance, we wondered why Joel Hoyer’s works were on display separately in a comer of the back room. We both found it a little disturbing. Perhaps the show would have felt more completely balanced if his provacative works were spread throughout the three rooms of the gallery, as was done with the works of the other artists.
All in all, the fiber show is something to see. It it on display through Sunday, Sept. 27. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
