Open house

festival at

Cathedral

Washington Cathedral’s annual open house festival will be held Saturday, Sept. 26, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This yearly event commemorates the laying of the cathedral’s foundation in 1907. The open house this year will culminate in a dedication service at 2 p.m. for the last pair of bronze gates to be installed in the west front. Festive music will be provided by bagpipers, brass ensemble and the cathedral choir of men and boys.

Other events include tours of the cathedral and its great central tower, demonstrations and exhibits of flower arranging, stone carving, calligraphy, needlework, musical instruments and Scottish dance. There will be music throughout the day by bands and singers.

Polish food and soft drinks will be sold.

The cathedral at Wisconsin and, Massachusetts Avenues welcomes all visitors to the open house. For further information call 202-5376200.
