READiscover USA - Celebrate, which met each Wednesday morning at the library, averaged about 70 children per week, according to Librarian Dee Brents.

Children who participated in the program kept a log of the books they read, and earned stamps to place in the log by reading books in any of eight categories. To earn the stamps, each child had to read three picture books or one juvenile book. Among the children with the most stamps were Sara Klatko (28) and Nathan Flinchum (27). Others were Stephanie Tholand (19) and Naomi Smoot (18).

“This has been a highly successful program,” one of the volunteers said. “More than half of the children earned stamps in all eight of the categories. The participation of all who helped in this venture is deeply appreciated - we are especially grateful to the Rappahannock News for the fine publicity they have given at all stages of this program.”
