Norman family reunion
The Norman family reunion will be held Sunday, Sept. 27, at the Rappahannock Park near Washington. “Please plan to attend and enjoy the day,” said a family spokesperson. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Lunch will be served at 1 p.m.
PTA to sponsor booth
The PTA will be sponsoring an old-time apple pitch booth and popcorn stand on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 3 and 4, in Sperryville, in front of Carriage House Antiques. Prizes will be awarded.
Hospice training begins Oct. 20
Hospice of the Rapidan is accepting volunteer applications for the fall training sessions to be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Oct. 20 to Nov. 10 at the Orange County Nursing Home. Volunteers are needed from your county. For an application and information call 825-4840.
Flea market at Flint Hill
A flea market sponsored by the Flint Hill Fire Department will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 10 a.m. at the fire hall as a fall fund raiser. Donations will be greatly appreciated and the department will be happy to pick up items. For additional information or pick-up call 675-3143. Refreshments will be available during the day and the Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will serve their annual fall festival dinner beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Adventure Team to meet
The Rappahannock 4-H Adventure Team will hold its first monthly business meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 30, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the basement of Trinity Episcopal Church. Those interested should make arrangements to take the school bus from school to the meeting. “We are locking forward to a big turnout,” said Hazel Zinn-Day, organizer.
Literacy Volunteers to meet
Friday, Oct. 2, is the date of the next Rappahannock Literacy Volunteers meeting in the Library on Gay Street, Washington.
The volunteers ask that anyone who hopes or wonders if being able to read will open up a world of new pleasures or opportunity will contact any convenient member of the Volunteers to explore this topic fiirther. For that reason two names are given here to further such an adventure: Penny Grant at 675-3051 or Eve Ashman at 987-8134. Others in other parts of the county will be given later.
