Byran H. Blevins, son of Herschell and Shirley V. Blevins of Amissville, has been promoted in the U.S Air Force to the rank of j staff sergeant.
Sgt. Blevins is a tactical aircraft maintenance specialist at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., with the 3246th Organizational Maintenance Squadron.
Sgt. Blevins is a 1979 graduate of Randolph Macon Academy, Front Royal.

Jennifer McNear, a junior at Mercersburg Academy, was honored with the school’s prize for excellence in the study of European Civilizations. Headmaster Walter H. Burgin Jr. presented the award M Miss McNear at the school’s openng exercises.
Miss McNear, who is entering ler second year at Mercersburg, is ;he daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richird McNear of Washington.
