State Police reported that the Uniform Crime Reports reflect a decrease of 8.6 percent in ail seven Index Crimes for the month of July.; That figure represents the greatest decrease so fur this year.
Each individual offense in the Crime Index experienced a decrease, with murder having the greatest decrease in 44.9 percent. There were 27 murder/non-negligent manslaughter offenses reported in the month of July compared to 49 in the same period last year. Aggravated assault had the second highest decrease with a 14.6 percent slowdown.
