Field Day will be held Friday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. at the Piedmont Research Station in Orange. Complimentary lunch will be served. For complete information and directions, call the Extension Office.

A forage research field day will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Virginia Forage Research Station in Middleburg. For additional information call the Extension Office at 675-3619.

Culpeper Homemakers9 craft fair

Make plans to come out to the Culpeper County Extension Homemakers’ annual craft fair Oct. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Homemakers’ Building at Agricultural Enterprises on Route 29 one mile south of Culpeper.

A wonderful selection of original crafts, gifts and household items will be available. Home baked goodies and a lunch tent are part of the fair. Lunch, too, will be a bargain. A hot dog, cole slaw and a cup of coffee will cost $1. There will be chicken salad sandwiches, beef barbecues, pie, cup-cakes, lemonade and soft drinks at the lunch tent as well.

Visit the Farmers Market and the craft sale on the first Saturday morning in October - there’s plenty of parking for all.

Harvest dinner at Flint Hill

The Flint Hill Ladies Auxiliary will serve their harvest dinner on Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 4:30 p.m. at the fire hall. Old Virginia ham and turkey with all the trimmings, vegetables, desserts, etc., will be served buffet style. Cost is $7 for adults and $4 for children 10 and under.

Waterford Craft Fair, Oct. 2-4

Virginia’s oldest crafts fair, the Waterford Homes Tour and Crafts Exhibit, celebrates its 44th year Oct. 2-4 in the National Historic Landmark village of Waterford. More than 126 artisans will demonstrate such old-time crafts as shoemaking, gunsmithing, weaving, chair caning, and basketry. Also scheduled throughout this 264-yearold Quaker community are traditional music and dance, thousands of handmade items for sale by more than 300 craftsmen.
