Major John Roberts of the Revolutionary War, is the residence of Mary Frances and C. William Fannon. Laurel Hill is also a working farm, in this case a 1,200-acre Tarantaise cattle operation.

The present house evolved from a temporary four-room structure built here in the 1930s, the original Roberts house having burned to the ground in 1915. When the property passed to the Fannons in 1965 they completely remodeled the structure, incorporating parts of several old homes and buildings in the county, Culpeper and Alexandria. Laurel Hill is also the tea house for the tour.
