Weekend weather
According to the extended forecast from the National Weather Service, clouds will dominate the skies for the next few day, with showers likely Saturday. Skies should clear by Sunday, with windy = conditions and temperatures in the high 50s. Nighttime lows will hover near 40.
Fall leaf watch
Leaf colors should reach their peak in the Blue Ridge Mountains this weekend, according to reports from the Shenandoah National Park and the George Washington National Forest. Naturalists say that the pattern of color change has been abnormal this year, with trees in the southern part of the state changing faster. But the display is spectacular all along the mountains, and the experts are predicting that the wet weather may mean the colors will last longer than usual -- perhaps through the end of the month.
