This coming weekend Oct. 21 and 22 will see the 33rd Annual Rappahannock House Tour and Dried r lower Sale, sponsored by the Churchwomen of Bromfield Parish, Trinity Episcopal Church in historic Washington. This popular event features not only the sale of hundreds of lovely flower arrangements by the ladies and their friends, flowers and greens grown and collected and dried since spring, but also a tour of three Rappahannock County homes.
The last house to be shown this weekend is Grenelefe which is one mile southwest of Amissville on Rt. 642 and the home of Col. and Mrs. Ellis Bingham.
Grenelefe sawr its beginnings in approximately 1740 as a two story log house. It was enlarged in 1837 with Isaiah Corbin’s “2 over 2” clapboard addition. Typical of houses of the time, a dining room and a living room are located on either side of the entry hall.
