To the editor:
During the week of Sept. 29Oct. 6 we volunteered our assistance to the victims of Hurricane Hugo in South Carolina. We were a collection center for food, clothing and houshold items and the response was overwhelming.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their generous donations. A special thanks to the Rappahannock Elementary School, Rappahannock High School, Ben Venue Market, Baldwin’s Grocery, Mayhugh’s Store in Amissville, Junior Girl Scout Troop 547 and the members of Woodville Baptist Church.
And also a sincere “thank you!” to all our neighbors, friends and Rappahannock residents who donated items and joined in to make our effort a reality for our fellow man.
Needless to say these people still need our help and support. We are still accepting clothing and household items, pots and pans and linens are especially needed at this time. We are not accepting food items now. Anyone wanting to help with relief work related to this disaster should call Ann Simmons at 6753064.
