“Something has got to be done with Scrabble. Those people up there are a bunch of pigs,” landfill operator Harold Artz told the other members of the Landfill Advisory Committee last Wednesday. “Every Monday and every' Friday I get 25 to 50 tires from Scrabble, not counting refrigerators, washers and dryers. They’re leaving trash on the ground.”
Jackson District Supervisor Ellis Bingham asked if the signs are in place there stating what could not be placed in the dumpster.
Stonewall-Hawthom representative Robert Anderson replied that the signs are there, but do not mention tires and say “no white goods.” “I’ve asked several people what they think ‘white goods’ means and gotten different answers. I asked a lawyer if we could prosecute someone who put a refrigerator in there, and he said he could beat it every time. ‘White goods’ is a recycler's term.”
“Whatever we have, it has to be specific,” Col. Bingham said.
“As far as who is using it, we do not know," Mr. Anderson said.
