Senior discount cards

Photo identification cards for senior citizens will be available at Trinity Episcopal Church on Monday, Sept. 24 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The cards allow seniors to receive discounts at dozens of participating merchants in nearby towns. Del. and Mrs. Raymond R. "Andy” Guest Jr. will sponsor the annual family picnic and rally at their farm on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 2 p.m, to 6 p.m. There will be refreshments, pony rides and games for children, sky divers, a hot air balloon and _ of course, some speeches and politicking. Among the invited guests are U.S. Senator UpjiP V^t^r andSeyenth District Congressman D. French Slaughter Jr. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and may be purchased at the gate. Del. Guest's farm is located off U.S. 522 on Route 624 north of Front Royal.

Handling county tax matters

The county treasurer's office has mailed all real estate and personal property tax bills for 1990. Any county residents who have not received their bills should call the Treasurer's Office (675-3334). Residents with questions about the assessments of their real estate or personal property should contact the Commissioner of the Revenue's office (675-3513). Both offices are open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Any other questions or comments about taxes should be directed to each district's county supervisor.

Constitution Day celebrated

As part of its annual observance, the Culpeper Minute Men Chapter, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution organized the celebration of the 203rd anniversary of the Constitution on Monday, Sept. 17. At 4 p.m., church bells in Washington and Sperryville were rung 203 times in observance of the Constitution's birthday.
