“Competitive corporations know that there is a cost to doing it wrong, but we in education have institutionally accepted that failure happens,” he said. “But there is a price tag attached to failure. We need to step back from our political monopoly and learn to do it right the first time.
“We also need to pay attention to our market share,” he told the board. “There will always be parents who choose to send their children to another school for religious or similar reasons, but they shouldn’t choose to go somewhere else on the basis of academics.”
