The microwave will bake apples beautifully, and the skin will retain a good color. Large or medium apples use the same time in a standard microwave. Smaller microwave ovens will need an additional minute per apple.
Core apples; peel top 1-1/2 inches; rub cut sides with lemon; wrap each apple loosely in a square microwave plastic, twisting the ends to make a tight seal; put in dish at least 1-1/2 inches deep. Use chart below for varieties and cooking times.
