William D. (Doug) Bywaters of Flint Hill has been named maintenance manager in the Warrenton residency of the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Before his residency appointment, Mr. Bywaters served for 19 years as maintenance superintendent of the Rappahannock area headquarters in Washington. He joined the department in 1961 as an equipment operator, serving from 1964 to 1970 as a VDOT construction inspector.
“Mr. Bywaters’ appointment is an invaluable asset to the Warrenton residency staff,” said Bob Moore, resident engineer. “I and other members of my staff have worked with him in his former post as maintenance superintendent in Rappahannock County and are well aware of his diligence and dedication to the department’s efforts. He will certainly complement us in his post as maintenance manager.”
As maintenance manager, Mr. Bywaters is responsible for the overall maintenance of all interstate, primary and secondary roads in Fauquier and Rappahannock counties through area headquarters located at Warrenton, Bealeton and Marshall in Fauquier County and Washington in Rappahannock County.
