The Rappahannock County
Extension Program has been expanded during the past two years with the addition of Sandra Foster, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foster of Flint Hill, filling the position of Work Study Student during the summer months. The Work Study Program is supported by a U.S. Office of Education Grant to V.P.I. and universities, which is, in Miss Foster’s case, Longwood College.
Squirrel season in Rappahannock County opens October 1 and continues through the 14th. The season is the same in those counties adjoining Rappahannock except Madison which had an earlier season. The bag limit is six squirrels per day.

Two members of the Rappahannock
4-H Pony Club participated in the State 4-H Horse Show held in Richmond in conjunction with the State Fair September 18, 19, and 20. Nina Metzinger and Pete Aylor, both of Sperry ville, did well in competition in a large field. There were some 350 horses showing in the State Fair and 36 competing with Pete and Nina in the Small Hunter Horse Division.

Crockett Park
programs conclude
Enjoy the final Tuesday evening nature program at C. M. Crockett Park’s Amphitheater on Sept. 25, sharing an evening of songs and stories during around a free “Family Campfire.”
The Pebbles & Ponds preschool nature program series concludes in the Park’s Friendship Shelter at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26.
All programs will be cancelled in the event of rain. Advanced registration is not required.
