High school guidance counsellor Joyce Good-Ewing wrote the application for the federal grant. “She has taken a problem and turned it into an opportunity,” Dr. Gangel said.

At Tuesday night’s meeting the School Board also learned that Rappahannock’s average SAT scores this part year were 447 for the verbal test and 500 for the math test for a total of 947. Those figures were 23 points higher than the national and state averages on the verbal test, 26 points higher than the national average on the math test and 34 points higher than the state average •
