More about
Operation ID
To the Editor:
As members of the Cordani for Sheriff Campaign Committee and in response to the Millers’ letter in the Sept. 5 edition of the Rappahan nock News, we feel it is necessary to set the record straight.
Mr. Cordani has never claimed credit for the development of the program, “Operation Identification.”
Contrary to the Millers’ assumption our committee has spoken with several different school officials and employees. We do not challenge Sheriff Woodward’s statement as to having implemented the program in 1984, but the school employees with whom we spoke could not recall the program being offered annually in recent years.
It is Mr. Cordani’s view that “Operation Identification” must be updated every year so that new children can be added to the files as their parents wish.
It is also unfortunate that the • Millers feel this campaign has stooped to “throwing stones and mud.” We have taken great care to address the issues only, and we compliment Sheriff Woodward for doing the same.
However, we will continue our effort to inform the public of Mr. Cordani’s intentions to operate a more progressive Sheriffs Office which will serve and respond to the needs of all citizens equally. We feel that the people of Rappahannock County deserve no less.
