ARE YOU A CAPTIVE ?
Initially, the reaction of a free citizen regarding this question would most likely be "of course not!".
Yet, it has been said, "Steel bars do not a prison make." How many of us know of those who are confined by "bars" of anxiety, fear, depression, or guilt, and therefore are unable to live their lives to the greatest potential. Without the grace of God, not one of us has immunity to such captivity.
Conversely, throughout history, saints and prisoners of war have been wrongly held captive by chains and bars of steel, yet their spirit could not be captured, for their souls belonged to God, the Omnipotent. . .the All Powerful.
Lift up your eyes and your heart to the heavens and pray, in the words of the hymn. . . “Just as I am, Thou wilt receive, wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve." Then, give thanks to God as you praise Him for His merciful kindness. Our Father is always at Home, ready to listen and ready to set your soul free. He will “proclaim liberty to the captives_and to those who are bound." (Isaiah 61:1)
