There is close to 30 on the staff at Wakefield, which holds classes for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. About six teachers have been hired and Dr. Saunders said he feels fortunate that he found teachers with good backgrounds on such short notice.
“The kids are really excited about being here. It is such a nice place with beautiful carpeting, airconditioning and an open courtyard,” said Dr. Saunders.
He said he is working with the Marshall Annex for Wakefield to hold gym classes and assemblies there. “It’s a perfect spot, it’s airconditioned and there’s plenty of room,” he said.
Dr. Saunders said there hasn’t been a great deal of concern from parents about the new school.
“Those who came with us were aware of the situation and decided to come with us. We’ve got most of the faculty here and I think they saw that. Your school is your faculty and ours is top quality,” he said.
