Carey Colvin to perform
Carey Colvin performs folk, rock and pop songs at the Woodsmoke Cafe on Main Street in Sperryville at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20. Accompanying her will be Granger Helvey on bass.

Writer's Guild meets
The Shenandoah Writers Guild will meet at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown. Dale Leatherman, senior editor of Spur magazine, will speak on “Getting Your Book Published."
Ms. Leatherman is the author of "Courting Danger," a biography of tennis player Alice Marble.

'New works by Dan Lewis'
"New Works by Dan Lewis," the gallery founder, runs through Sept. 29 at the Middle Street Gallery and Artists' Cooperative in Washington.
Mr. Lewis' mostly oil show features scenes from Rappahannock County.
