The supervisors also agreed to publish a list of delinquent taxpayers in October. The taxpayers will receive one more notice telling them to arrange to pay their taxes by the end of September or risk having their names published. Mr. McCarthy said outstanding taxes amount to $78,000, a figure that is close to last year’s.
The supervisors voted to enter into another agreement with Joyce Engineering of Richmond to design a new cell for the landfill that will accommodate Rappahannock’s trash through Jan. 1, 1994. Joyce Engineering bid $28,000 to do the design work. Starting in 1994, new cells at the landfill must have a double liner.
Col. Bingham said that construct tion debris can still be put in single lined landfill cells after 1994. He suggested that if space is left the county could take in construction debris from outside the county at the rate of $300 per load to offset the some of the cost of closing the cell or opening a new one.
