One of the season’s surprises has been the play of senior goalie James Roy, who has never played organized soccer before. In shutting out the Warrenton team Roy stopped a penalty kick and consistently pinned the opponents deep in their own territory with his booming kicks.
On defense, sweeper Andrew Kerr, a sophomore, has stood out, and junior stopper Mike Brown has played aggressively, said Coach Maeyer.
Other players on this year’s team are seniors Jason Fox and Ryan Welch; sophomores Joe Dunagan and Tucker Rogers, and freshmen Justin Day, Derrick Daczewitz, Michael Rothrock and Luke Zindel.
After opening game the Panthers take on Randolph Macon Academy at home at 4 p.m. Sept. 17.
