As a former businessman, Mr. Darby said he has knowledge to invigorate the local economy. He cited the building trade as one that was particularly hard hit and said there should not be any more “road blocks,” including impact fees, placed in front of businesses w’hile the recession lasts.
Although Mr. Darby lived in Fauquier County from 1978 to 1987 before moving to Rappahannock, he is concerned that he is not known well enough in Fauquier, whefe some 70 percent of 31st District voters live.
This will change, Mr. Darby said. His campaign headquarters is in Warrenton, bringing him to Fauquier almost everyday, he said.
Campaign manager Jeff Parker said that Mr. Darby would concentrate on representing the entire 31st District, not “merely Fauquier.”
“And I think that’s what’s going to win the election,” Mr. Parker said.
