Another segment ot the reorganization proposes that unit directors, presently found in each county, be replaced with an area director.
“This ideas has met with a lot of opposition,” Rappahannock Extension agent, home economics and 4-H, Helen Smith, said.
“This is going to affect Rappahannock County because all the counties work together,” Mr. Williams said of the proposed reduction plan, using the nationally recognized OutBack Program with Madison County as one example of cross county line cooperation.
“They are telling us they are making these cuts so counties will work together, but we already do that now,” he said.
“It’s one thing to do without for a period of time but they are not saying when things will change,” said Mr. Williams, adding while the administrators propose these changes “they have not figured out how one agent is going to handle all the demands at once.”
Mrs. Smith stressed that the changes were only a “proposal” and if changes were made, none would be effective until July 1992.
She said each county in the planning district will work together to decide on how the reorganization will affect their office. C
