The participants will bring with them scrolls from the courthouses of Virginia supporting the Bill of Rights, which was added to the Constitution in 1791. These scrolls will be presented to former chief justice of the Supreme Court Warren Burger as part of the opening ceremonies at the fair.
Citizens may add their signatures in support of the Bill of Rights to those of the members of the Board of Supervisors. The scroll will be at County Administrator John McCarthy’s office through Friday.
The Bill of Rights, the first 10 ammendments to the Constitution, guarantees basic freedoms, such as freedom of speech and religion and freedom from unreasonable search and seizure.
