team drops 3
The Rappahannock High girls basketball team dropped three Bull Run District games this week, losing at George Mason in the opener by 17, to Clarke and to Central at home.
In the George Mason game the inexperienced Lady Panthers experienced “pre-game jitters,” said Coach Renee Leake, and the Mason Mustangs had five games under their belt already.
In the home opener against Clarke, the basketball team ended the first quarter up by 10, and held a lead at halftime before losing the contest by 11 points.
Tuesday night against the more experienced Central High team took it to the Lady Panthers, winning easily, 70-29.
Leah Marlett is the team’s top scorer, averaging about 10 points a game, and Coach Leake had praise for the play of Emma Swatman as well.
