Wakefield School in Marshall opened Monday with little fanfare and things went suprisingly smoothly. Headmaster Dr. Alan Saunders said the day was “pretty glitch-free.”
After a heated battle over the legal rights of the school, Wakefield divided last month into Wakefield Country Day School in Rappahannock and Wakefield School in Marshall, now located at Marshall Manor nursing home.
“For the fact that this was not designed for a school, it is working out great,” said Dr. Saunders. He said the next few weeks will be spent fine-tuning daily activities.
(In Huntly, reports were that opening week enrollment at Wakefield Country Day School was below 50 students. Headmaster Pamela Lynn said the mood there was “upbeat.”)
