Organizers are expecting 14 wagons and 50 to 60 people, including outriders, to take part in the caravan which will start in Rappahannock. They will follow U.S. 522 to Culpeper, U.S. 15 to Gordonsville, and U.S. 33 and Route 54 to. Richmond. The caravan will travel 12 to 18 miles per day at the rate of about three miles per hour. The first day they will stop at Durrants farm in Culpeper.
Among the participants will be four or five children. To make sure they keep up with their schoolwork a teacher will be going with the group. One wagon will be driven by a 10-year-old.
Sandra Kisamore of the Buffalo Trail Riders said her organization is nearly 25 years old. It started as a riding club and shortly changed to wagon trains.
