There is going to be a change among Extension agents in Planning District Nine, which includes Rappahannock County.
“We are going to be shorthanded,” said Tommy Williams, Rappahannock County Extension Agent, agriculture and 4-H, and unit director.
Extension agents are provided to each community through Virginia Tech. Due to early retirement and state budget cuts, state administrators have proposed to reorganize positions among county Extension agents, reducing numbers to fill 100 positions across the state.
At present, the minimum agents to serve a county is three, though due to population numbers, Rappahannock County has only two aerents.
