Thomas W. McFarland, 20, of Washington, Va., was released on a $3,500 personal recognizance bond Sept. 5 after being charged with felonious assault in connection with the Sept. 1 Washington Fire Hall dance fights.
According to his arrest warrant, Mr. McFarland “maliciously cut and woundfed] David Fannon [Jr.] with intent to maim, disfigure, or disable.”
In a written statement to police, Mr. Fannon, an Amissville resident, stated, “At 1:30 a.m. Sept. 1 ... I attempted to stop an altercation between Lee Rooker and a small guy. In the process I was sucker punched by several people after wrestling Rooker to the ground. Among those people was McFarland. Later Rooker provoked me again. I hit him and wrestled him to the ground at which time McFarland struck me with a sharp object resulting in four slashes, 12 stitches, numerous abrasions and a black swollen eye.”
