• An off-duty state trooper was allegedly assaulted in the parking lot of the Old Hollow Grocery at 6:35 p.m. Sept. 3, according to the warrant sworn out this week.
Stephen Michael Leake, 36, of Sperryville, was charged with assault (not assault of a police officer) two hours after the alleged incident and was released on $2,000 bond.
