WCDS squad lost 4 to 6. Coach Venderwoode said the team had a strong second half “but couldn’t hang on for the victory." David Brandt, Yonnan Boya, Tim Burke and Mark Zimmer each scored one goal.
Monday the team lost to Emmanuel 1 to 7 in an away game. David Brandt scored the lone WCDS goal. This brings the team record to 2 to 2 in Delaney Conference plan and 3 and 3 overall. The girls’ volleyball team also is off to a good start with a four wins to one loss record after a double match with Wakefield (Marshall). The Lady Owls won the first match two games to none and the second two games to one. Bridget Hickson, Laura Beeton, and Coleen O’Donnell were the outstanding players of the match, according to coach Pam Henry. In the second game of the second match Welby Lynn scored seven points, and Elizabeth Nugent scored five.
Following a first-place finish in a meet at Notre Dame Academy with Notre Dame, Seton and Fredericksburg Christian Academy over the weekend, the girls’ cross country team is in first place in the Delaney Athletic Conference. The boys’ team is in second place.
