Gussie Ryder
Gussie Tina Ryder, 83, of Fredericksburg, died on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at Fredericksburg Manor Nursing Home.
She was bom on Dec. 8, 1910, in Rappahannock.
She was a homemaker.
Her parents were the late Jordon Leake and Sallie Crow. , She was the widow of the late Earnest Ray Ryder.
Survivors include eight children, Rebecca Riley of Culpeper, Phyllis Wheeler of Fredericksburg, Mary Loving of New Bern, N.C., Evelyn (Sissy) Reid of Spotsylvania, Joyce Taylor of Stafford, David Ryder of Spotsylvania, Clifton Ryder of Winton, N.C. and Glen Ryder of Spotsylvania; 38 grandchildren; 67 greatgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Oct. 6 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel with Dr. Albert •Brown and the Rev. Kenneth Jubb ^officiating.
Interment was in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Doug Monroe, Butch Stretch, Mike Foley, Paul Simmers, Dale Shifflett, and Mike -Heflin. i

Dale James Metzinger, 71, colonel USAF retired, died of cancer on Oct. 7 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Colonel Metzinger began his career as a private, enlisting in September, 1942. He attended flight school and was commissioned a second lieutenant upon graduating in May, 1944. He went on to become a
