Chairman Beverly Massie said she was also concerned about the average child. ‘The two ends take a great deal of money,” she said.

Stonewall-Hawthom District representative John Tole said he had also received a call from a parent concerned about crowded kindergarten classes. f

The board heard a report from the committee working on improving the college preparatory curriculum. They suggested offering more advanced placement classes and requiring students planning to go to college to take more academic subjects.

The board learned that enrollment was at 1,008 at the end of September. The budget was based on an average daily membership through March of 1,010. Dr. Gangel said he felt the schools will be on target for the budget. I

Assistant superintendent Robert Chappell reported that work on the addition is behind schedule. Instead of having substantial completion by early October, the contractors are expected to be nearly complete be the beginning of November. He said he believes it will still be possible to move on November 18.

The board approved a senior trip to Seven Springs resort in Pennsyvania. The seniors hope to leave after school on a Tuesday in early March and return Sunday. They will have the opportunity to ski and participate in various activities including a dance for people under 21 Saturday night.
