In the May, 1994, town election Ms. Van Dort lost the election for town treasurer to Tom 2|umwalt by 11 votes. Mr. Zumwalt resigned to move to Texas last month. During that election copies of a lien filed on Ms. Van Dort by the IRS were anonymously circulated in town. The IRS has since released the lien.
During discussion of the survey, Mr. Baumgardner said that no previous survey of town streets exists. He prepared the survey by going back to the deeds of all the properties bordering town streets and assuming the streets were made up of land not Conveyed in those deeds.
Irma Jenkins and her grandson Jeff Butler protested the survey, saying it included part of the porch on Mrs. Jenkins’s house and a shed Mr. Butler uses to repair cars. The driveway past Mrs. Jenkins’s house is a stub of Calvert Street. Mr. Butler said
