Adds 2 Wins

The girls’ varsity volleyball team at Wakefield Country Day school picked up two more victories with wins over Emmanuel Christian School (ECS) of Manassas and Massanutten Military Academy.

ECS came into this competition with a record of 4 and 1. WCDS had contributed to this record in a pre-season tournament loss, so Coach Pam Henry reviewed the stats and made changes in the lineup before the rematch.

WCDS dominated play in the first two games with 15-7 and 15-12 victories. EMS taking advantage of WCDS serving faults and poor hits, won games 3 and 4 (15-5 and 15-6).

With two wins apiece “WCDS junior Bridget Hickson led her team with a powerful attack that rekindled the momentum needed for the Owls to pick up the pieces and beat EMS 15-7 in the final game and claim match victory,” Coach Henry said.

In the earlier game with Massanutten Military Academy WCDS had a three-game sweep, winning with scores Of 15-4, 15-2, and 15-3.
