During public discussion several other people mentioned that parts of their buildings were in public streets. It seems that in earlier days many people built the front walls of their houses on the lot line, and any additions, even steps, went in the public right-of-way.

Council members tried to explain that the survey had been undertaken in order to clarify problem areas so they can be dealt with. They said they can decide to keep or abandon the stub streets, but they cannot abandon a stub street if that would leave a separately deeded building lot land-locked.
