ation up to date with the resources available to me. In 1984 I opened a dispatch center to dispatch the Sheriffs Office and fire and rescue. Since then I have worked hard to improve its operation, with the latest improvement being the long-awaited Enhanced 911 system. In 1984 I also reopened the Rappahannock County jail which has allowed us to keep our prisoners, plus prisoners from other jurisdictions for a fee. This operation has been a revenue generator for the citizens of the county. The jail has provided inmates with drug and alcohol counseling, AA meetings, religious services and GED education. The jail has also implemented electronic home incarceration for juveniles when there has been no place to put them.
During my 12 years as Sheriff I have never had a jail/prisoner or law enforcement-related law suit. If you look closely at my record over the past years, I think you will see that I am the best candidate for the job of Sheriff.
