Day of Caring
Planned
By BETTY ROBERTS
Rappahannock New# Contributing Writer
Imagine the possibilities if just half of the people in the Piedmont United Way area spent its “Day of Caring” on Oct. 28 helping others. "Day of Caring” is a day of matching volunteers with hands-on projects to help the community.
Projects available: cleaning yards, painting fences, building steps for senior citizens, giving free blood pressure tests at a central location. Cleaning and repairing of wheelchairs, having a puppet show and reading to patients at nursing homes, collecting warm coats for school children, adopting a senior citizen for a year, winterizing homes for the elderly, having a baby shower for local teens in unwed mothers’ programs or just reaching out to make a visible difference in the life of another and your community.
For ideas and projects please call Betty Roberts at 825-7615.
