The Varsity Panthers, however, fell to the Cougars by a score of 4934. Coach Laura Conklin said after the game she felt the Panthers suffered a “defensive breakdown in a game they should have won.” The Panthers were led by forward Cari Kerr’s 10 points and 13 rebounds. Kylene Wolfe also scored 10 points while adding 6 rebounds for her own.
The Varsity Panthers were again in action Thursday night against the Brentsville Tigers. The Panthers came out flat in the game and never really were able to spark any enthusiasm. Their offense sputtered throughout the game. Coach Conklin said, “We had no real gleaming flaws, however, we’re just not playing anywhere near out potential.” Sarah Gentry played an aggressive offensive game to score 8 points. Guard Kylene Wolfe also added 8 on the strength of her outside shooting.
The Junior Varsity ladies suffered a let down after their victory Tuesday and also fell to the Tigers by a core of 21-16. Foul trouble plagued offensive threat Sonya Wiggington and left the Panthers with little scoring punch. Mandolyn Ashby led the way with 6 points.
This week’s Panther Player of the Week is back on the court. Junior Varsity point guard Sonya Wiggington gains the honor for her major role in the team’s victory over Manassas Park.
