She is also survived by her sister, Lucy Mae Burke of Culpeper and her brother, William Settle of Rixeyville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Owen Smoot; her son, Jerry Owen Smoot and five brothers.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Shifflett officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Davis, Doug Morgan, Winfrey Barfield Jr., Bill Jenkins, Ricky Deal and Timmy Deane.

Clate McKinley Breeden, 69, of Unionville died on Wednesday, Oct. 1 1 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He was born in Graves Mills on March 16, 1926, a son of the late Guy Lee and Linda Smith Breeden.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator.
