They like Ms. Portman’s gentle, but unflinching portrayal of her schizophrenic sister. And they like the oddly supportive relationship between the sisters.
“Most people see mental illness as a problem,” says Sallie Morgan, an administrator at the RappahannockRapidan Community Services Board, which has arranged for a private viewing of the play. “What’s very special about Julie’s presentation is that she shows the beauty that can exist in family relationships, the love that goes above and beyond the mental illness.”
Jeremy's Run
Hike Planned
On Saturday, Oct. 21 the Ragged Mountain Resource Center will be conducting its third hike of the season, this being to Jeremy’s Run on the western side of the Blue Ride in the Shenandoah National Park.
Hikers may meet at 9 a.m. to the Rappahannock County Park and carpool from there at 9:15 a.m. Total length is about 8.2 miles, and total time is between 4 1/2 and 5 hours, including a lunch stop.
As always, come prepared with food for yourself and suitable, layered clothing according to the weather of the day. There is no charge, though donations to the Ragged Mountain Resource Center are welcome. There is a vehicle fee for entering the Skyline Drive.
